Gerry Walsh

FCIPS, Group CEO, CIPS

 

Born in Northern Ireland, Gerry has spent most of his working life in England, France and the U.S. He started his career in 1978 in the supply function at Ford Motor Company and has since worked in a variety of industries, including Electrolux, Procter and Gamble, American Express, RHM, ABF and Amey. Gerry was CPO for the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
Currently CIPS' Interim Group CEO, Gerry is a former President of the Institute and served on CIPS' Board and Council (now Congress) for a number of years. He is a former winner of the prestigious CIPS Procurement and Supply Chain Professional of the Year award.
Gerry also now acts as an advisor to a number of organisations, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the UK government foreign trade department.
Gerry graduated with a B.S.Sc. in Business Administration and Philosophy from Queens University, Belfast and gained an MBA from Brighton University.
Outside work, Gerry is a keen but deteriorating tennis player.
